Many recipients participate in Alumni Scholars Association, designed to enhance its members' experiences at Cal by promoting leadership opportunities. Founded in 1949 and staffed by UC students, the CAA's Lair of the Golden Bear Summer Camp accommodates 1,600 families during 11 week-long sessions, beginning each Saturday from mid-June through the end of August. And there isn't always a waiting list -- spots are often available for the Young Alumni Weekend, Singles Week and Special Interest Week.
To meet the needs of Blues from Berkeley to Beijing, the Association has launched more than 115 Alumni Groups in the United States and abroad. Each of our regional, special interest, and ethnic Alumni Groups serves as an excellent source of information on upcoming reunions, academic lectures, local Cal sports events, and University news.
Anyone who has ever participated on a Cal Discoveries tour knows that, at Berkeley, travel means a lot more than sightseeing. The Association's Cal Discoveries has expanded into more educational trips, family travel, full service trips, young alumni trips and service expeditions.
