Joseph Nolan '07I am interested in networking with individuals who have experience working with: - Environmental Law
- Political Consulting
- Anything to do with California Natural Resources (Governmental or NGO) (Profit or non-profit)
- Legal Assistance
- Education
My Background: I grew up in El Cerrito California, two towns away from Berkeley, so have lived in the East Bay my whole life. As a recent graduate I need to get out and see what life has to offer me, and what I can do with it. I have previously worked with children as an after school coordinator preparing them for NCLB tests. I have also volunteered with patients at Napa State Hospital. I have always held a great interest in the environment and environmental politics, particularly how politics, people, and social movements have shaped the environment. While I majored in Political Science, I also earned a minor in Environmental Law through the college of Natural Resources. I have also worked as an intern for the California Health Department assisting research in Indoor Air Quality. I am very handy with tools and have grown up around construction sites my whole life, my father being a carpenter/contractor. My Greatest Asset is… I am always open to learning new things. I consider myself a lifetime student and am always looking for new opportunities to learn. Educating oneself about new ideas and information has always been a pleasure. On top of this I am a quick learner and tend to acquire new skills promptly. Because of my background I communicate well with people from all varieties of life.
I Work Best when… I have a clear and concise goal on what is needed to be done for the task at hand. When there is mutual respect among a group for completing a defined goal. Working with others who are willing to educate me in a professional manner and when working in a friendly cooperative environment.
My Dream Job Would Be… to have a job where at the end of the day I know, even if it is not recognized, that what I did that day was important and helped make someone else’s life easier. I want a career that I can take pride in.
My Next Step is ... To find a career within the government or Law firm that deals with Natural Resources. Maybe move to Sacramento and eventually go to Law School. I welcome any suggestions, leads, opportunities, or information that could be helpful in my job search. Feel free to contact me at: nolan@berkeley.edu
Thank you, Joseph Nolan Resume
