Madeline Wu '05 Business Administration Resume |
I am interested in networking with individuals who have experience working with: - Financial Services
- Socially Progressive Businesses (Non-profit and for-profit)
- Community Economic Development and Microfinance
- Strategic Planning
- Non-profit organizations addressing: poverty, Asian Pacific Islander issues, women’s issues
My Background:- Research Analyst
- Sustainability Consultant
- Grant writer
- Graphics Assistant
My Greatest Asset is my ability to look at the big picture of any situation and plan out the incremental steps needed to reach that goal. I worked at a socially response investing research center where one of my main tasks was to develop the groundwork for a new issue. I pinpointed different approaches to researching this specific issue, which led me to interviewing key individuals from different organizations, such as the Consumer Product Safety Commission. As a result of my work, this new topic may be integrated into the company’s products.
My Last Position was with the Port of Oakland as a consultant. I co-led a team in surveying Social Equity within the organization. The team was given a short time frame to turn around this large project, involving nearly all the departments within the Port of Oakland. Our findings resulted in pinpointing main recommendations which would help the Port of Oakland further standardize its Social Equity efforts and creating different forms of measurement. In conclusion to our project, I was given the opportunity to present to the Board of Directors regarding the current status of the organization’s involvement in Social Equity.
I Work Best in a collaborative environment. Through group projects and internships, I have that the most effective way of generating new ideas is through group brainstorming sessions. Under a competent and highly motivated leader, each team I have joined has been able to agree on group vision. With a common goal in mind, I find that I am able to successfully accomplish the work for which I am responsible.
My Dream Job Would Be hard to define at this moment. I aspire to manage a for-profit or non-profit organization, which will effectively use my business background to achieve not only a business goal, but also a social mission. One example of a job that fits this dual goal is the management of an economic development organization. I believe that as my career progresses, this dream job will become clearer to me.
My Next Step is to find an entry-level position in the financial services industry. There are many different options and I have yet to explore all of them. I am most interested in a position where I can build my analytical, quantitative and communication skills. Regardless of where I end up, my future employer will know that I work with integrity, persistence, and a desire to be challenged.
I welcome any suggestions, leads, opportunities, or information that could be helpful in my job search. Feel free to contact me at: madelinewu@haasalum.berkeley.edu. Thank you for your time.
Best wishes,
