My Greatest Asset is ... my effortless ability to come up with ideas. Whether for the purpose of complex problem solving or planning a weekend get together, my ideas are always unique, creative, and effective. My ideas coupled with my constant demand for the highest quality work product from myself and my team, make a dynamic and powerful combination. Finally, my communication skills and genuine, pleasant demeanor guarantee my ability to work with a team efficiently, easily and with enjoyment.
My Current Position is ... as a case manager/paralegal at a national complex litigation firm. My main focus is to make sure the attorneys have everything they need to prepare for case management conferences and trial. Among our more famous clients that I serve are Tyco International, Qwest Communications Inc, and WebMD. I frequently conduct research for relevant case law and for investigative purposes. I also do a great deal of document review and briefing on what I find or else coding of said discovery documents, as well as manage discovery. I draft supporting documents, revise, file and serve other legal documents. I bring with me a great deal of experience reviewing and complying with local, state and federal rules. I am fortunate to work in a number of areas of law in my current position including Criminal, Antitrust, and Corporate, to name a few. The variety has made me versatile and experienced in many skills and tactics. I have also had the opportunity to receive concentrated training on many software and research programs and attend a national conference on electronic discovery after the new federal rule changes. Through my position, I am very accustomed to paying attention to details, working long hours and drawing on intrinsic motivation to produce great quality work.
I Work Best when ... I have some flexibility in work schedule, but given deadlines to meet, when I can work with people with good attitudes and respect for one another, and when I have some variety in the legal work I do or else opportunity to be creative in my arguments and/or approach to work. I am more inclined to work independently primarily, but work very well with others and value bouncing ideas off others and sharing critiques.
My Dream Job Would Be ... I think of a dream job as one containing properties I value. My dream job is one that has a great impact on people whether on an individual basis or on a large scale, but definitely improving lives. That job must also be one where I am perpetually growing, learning, and changing with it. I dream big. My dream job is one that keeps up. My Next Step is ... Getting an interview.... In the not so immediate sense, getting experience as a practicing attorney to lay the foundation for my future. I feel like my next job should provide me with knowledge in one or more of my areas of interest, understanding of the legal profession in the context of that job and refine my vision of the next stage of my life. I welcome any suggestions, leads, opportunities, or information that could be helpful in my job search. Feel free to contact me at: sarah.kalas@gmail.com
