    Inspirare finds the legendary Sara Shelton Mann in a hopeful if apocalyptic mood, exploring environmental decay and the grace of the human spirit in a tragically devolving world. Her 20 years as the leader of “Contraband” secured an international reputation as a dance theater artist and unparalleled performer. The movements of the work are: Telios/Telios, which premiered at ODC in December 2006; Inspirare, which premiered at Project Artaud in Spring 2007; and RedGoldSky which makes its world premiere in these performances.

    The Neglected Voter: White Men and the Democratic Dilemma by David Paul Kuhn In the 1960s, the Republican party won over a crucial demographic: white male voters, and the game was changed for both parties.     Miguel Gutierrez, a former San Franciscan, returns for the second time since 1996, when he performed his piece Seduction of Order. A rising star on the international scene, Miguel fuses an urban, hip, sexual, and physically bold aesthetic with a post-minimalist formalism. These two works touch on the social politics of the body and the perception of beauty.

If you are interested in discussing a good book and meeting some great Cal alums at the same time, join the Cal alumni book club. We will meet once every month (or two months), enjoy a potluck dinner, and discuss the book of the month.
