Tessie Lee '07 Background Received a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering. Was in SWE (Society of Women Engineers). Was the President of ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) for 1 ½ years. Was Secretary of EJC (Engineers Joint Council) for a year. Worked at Hamilton Sundstrand. How did you hear about the Student Alumni Mentorship Program? Browsing online for opportunities offered to students. Found out about it and told all my friends. What attracted you to the Program? It is always good to get a different perspective from people with more experience who went to the same school. For networking. There is no downfall to a program like this one. Your experience as a SAMP mentee My first mentor didn't work out. I only saw her once in a year. I then changed to Jesse Ante and he was great. He helped acclimate me to Berkeley life. We went to basketball games and different events, or just talked over a meal. It was a good outlet to day-to-day school life. We are still in touch. What is your dream job? To have a show on the Food Network. Did the Mentorship Program help you get closer to your goal? How? It did! My mentor shares my passion for eating and introduced me to some great places in Berkeley. Would you consider becoming a mentor? If so, Why? Absolutely! Because I had a great experience as a mentee and I would like to give back and help out. It is always difficult to answer this question. It’s just fun! I was fortunate enough to have had an awesome mentor and want to do the same for someone else.
