    Cal Mentorship Program

    Value of Mentorship
Students gain recognition and encouragement, receive honest feedback and constructive criticism, acquire advice on how to balance education, career and extracurricular activities, gain perspective on long-term career planning, and share similar career, academic, cultural, and/or social interests with their mentors.  Mentors help inform students which in turn instills the confidence necessary to succeed in school and beyond.

The Cal Mentorship Program is an online resource where Cal students may choose from a database of alumni mentor volunteers.
      • Mentees and mentors share similar career, academic, and/or cultural interests.

      • Mentees and mentors establish communication based on what feels comfortable to them and what works best with their schedules.

      • Mentees commit to initiating the contact with the mentor and staying in touch. Contact can be via email, phone, or in person.

      Students (Mentees)

Mentees are current Cal undergraduate students who seek support and guidance from Cal alumni about career, academic, and/or life issues.

      Alumni (Mentors)

Mentors provide career and academic guidance to a mentee, as well as personal support.

Mentors do not select a mentee; the student is responsible for selecting a mentor.

Once you are selected to be a mentor, encourage your mentee to be candid with you about what he/she hopes to gain from the experience.

You and your mentee will work together to set a schedule.

      To register:

A valid Berkeley.edu email forwarding address is required.
      1. Those who have Berkeley.edu email forwarding, register and complete your mentor profile at EdgeOnCollege.com.
