Additional Program Offerings

Seminars/Meetings: Throughout the course of the year, program staff will plan personal, academic, social and professional growth workshops that are planned to help provide you with information and resources that will enhance your college experience.

Personal advising: Association staff monitor the students’ initial academic and social adjustment to campus, and their progress toward graduation. Staff provides campus and off-campus referrals as needed.

Peer Network: Through participating in TAAP events and meetings you are exposed to a strong community of scholars that can help support, inspire, motivate, and inform you. Many TAAP scholars form strong friendships which are increadibly valuable in college, and serve to increase your academic and personal success.

Mentorship program: Students select one or more alumni to serve as mentors and career advisors.

Annual Retreat: An all day program away from campus enables students to get to know one another better, to learn how to work together more effectively, and to experience the outdoors.

Social events: Students can hone their social skills and make important networking connections at events with donors, scholarship interviewers, faculty, and other alumni.

Laptop: All inocming students will receive a laptop. We believe that this resource is an essential key to your success at UC Berkeley. Having a laptop will also help ensure that you will be able to stay in close contact with the TAAP office. Students are responsible for maintenance, upkeep and possession of their computer. Laptops will not be replaced if lost, broken, or stolen.

CAA Student Membership: With a CAA student membership, TAAP scholars receive the many benefits of Alumni Association membership, even before they are alumni! You'll also have access to all the services provided by the CAA Alumni and Student Relations Department, such as career counseling, mentorship, and alumni networking. More information on benefits can be found at alumni.berkeley.edu under "Discounts and Services."

KAPLAN Discounts: TAAP students receive $375 toward a Kaplan GMAT, LSAT, MCAT, GRE, DAT or OAT classroom course and the opportunity to earn $100 in additional course discounts for each friend that signs up at the same time as the TAAP student.

“At the retreat I learned that I am able to tolerate people who have opposing views from mine…I would be at an extreme disadvantage had I missed the retreat. I love you guys for knowing what is best for us!”
