“I think this is the best time to make a contribution to CAA,” said Guillermo Rodriguez ’91. “I think that for the system and for the campus, given the challenge of budget cuts and the problems of the economy, this is the time to stand up. My nonprofit experience and experience in government should serve me well.”
Rodriguez, a sociology major at Cal, became an expert in public policy and worked in government relations at PG&E and as executive director and director of policy and research for the Latino Issues Forum. Today he serves the City and County of San Francisco as director of the Mayor’s Office of Economic and Workforce Development. He’s given his time to many organizations, including the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce and the California State Parks Foundation.
He’s looking forward to lobbying in Sacramento on behalf of the alumni and University—and to attending the next Bears game. “I’m a diehard football and basketball fan,” he said. “I try not to miss one.”
