Ed Weiss ‘85, J.D. ‘88, fondly remembers his role as class coordinator for Political Science 179, a guest lecture series that filled Wheeler Auditorium every Wednesday. “It was the easiest and also the most interesting one hour in school,” said Weiss, who recruited the likes of Willie Brown, Gary Hart, and Cesar Chavez.
Today Weiss, now general counsel to Ticketmaster, is eager to assist his beloved Cal. “I really want to do something for the school, and I think I’m motivated partly by this being my 25th reunion year and partly because the last few years I’ve been reading about all the budget problems and I want to help.”
He’s served on the boards of Bet Tzedek (a legal nonprofit) and Big Brothers, but still finds time for the occasional Bears game. His 12-year-old daughter Shelby, he says, has already caught blue and gold fever from her dad. “I have more than my share,” Weiss said.
