Peaceful Warrior (Lions Gate Films), a movie based on
Dan Millman’s best-selling book, The Way of the Peaceful Warrior,
captures the author’s adventures as a young student-athlete at Cal, and stars
Nick Nolte as the lead character. A member of the Class of ’68, Millman’s career
has taken several turns as an Olympic athlete, gymnastic coach, martial arts instructor,
college professor, and author.
Jessie Deeter, M.A. ’01, M.J. ’01, produced the feature
documentary Who Killed the Electric Car? (Sony Pictures Classics), which investigates the
birth and death of the electric car, as well as the role of renewable energy and sustainable
living in the future
(click here to view an interview with Deeter on the Bear Bites blog). An Oakland-based documentary filmmaker, Deeter also recently completed
a documentary about Liberia’s civil war, Taking Guns From Boys, which was shown this July in
San Francisco.
