CAA at the Cal-in-Sacramento reception

Celebrate our students and alumni

On June 20, the Cal Alumni Association (CAA) partnered with the Institute of Governmental Studies and Office of Government and Community Relations to host a reception honoring students interning in Sacramento. Every year the Cal-in-Sacramento fellowship sends 30 students to complete public service internships in California’s capital. Students gain valuable experience working in the offices of Senate and Assembly members, the governor’s office, state agencies, or nonprofit groups. Over three decades, more than 500 Cal students have gone to Sacramento as part of the program, and many later return for careers in public service.

CAA was proud to sponsor the event, which brought over 100 alumni, students, and legislators together to support Cal. Legislators in attendance included Senators Hannah-Beth Jackson, Henry Stern, and Steve Glazer, and Assemblymember Monique Limon. Senator Stern spoke to guests about the importance of alumni and friends advocating for UC Berkeley, as well as the need for increased state investment in the UC system.
