The Alumni Groups Program and Online Alumni Communities offer alumni the opportunity to stay involved with and connect to the University, students, and fellow alumni. Alumni group volunteers are instrumental in bringing alumni closer together, while enriching their own lives and the lives of future Cal alumni.
There are many ways for alumni to connect with their alma mater through the Cal Alumni Association and alumni groups. We hope by staying informed and involved, Cal alumni are inspired to support the University of California, Berkeley and ensure its continued excellence.
CAA’s Alumni Group Advisors are committed to partnering with you to create vibrant organizations. We look forward to your successes.
The Alumni Groups Program provides a grassroots mechanism for Cal alumni to form their own network in order to reach and engage their constituency. Alumni groups fall under three major categories: geographic, special interest, and cultural/ethnic.
Through chartered alumni groups, thousands of alumni are engaged with the University nationwide. Alumni group volunteers provide field leadership, organize events, raise money, help with CAA’s scholarship award process, welcome new students to Cal, and offer many other activities to support UC Berkeley. We invite you to be a part of our far-reaching network, an important component of CAA’s effort to reach all alumni.
All chartered Alumni Groups are officially registered with CAA and are offered the benefits described in the Alumni Groups Manual.

Alumni wishing to connect with fellow alumni in their regional area or area of special interest, but who do not wish to become a CAA chartered alumni group can form an Online Alumni Community (OAC). This is a more informal way to connect with alumni in your area of interest, and can be as simple as creating a Facebook page or group. An Online Alumni Community can apply to become a chartered alumni group at any time.
Online Alumni Communities are not chartered under CAA, but are listed with our chartered Alumni Groups as an additional opportunity for alumni to stay connected with UC Berkeley. These communities do not receive the benefits for chartered alumni groups described in the Alumni Groups Manual.
