Grace Jordan

Grace Jordan ‘10 has an abundance of opportunities ahead of her and is ready to begin her life as a Cal alumna. Thanks to her degree from Cal and the connections she developed through her work with the Cal Alumni Association (CAA), this three-time recipient of The Leadership Award is in prime position for a successful future.

By holding leadership positions in several student groups, Grace has developed skills that will help her advance her career. She credits The Leadership Award for allowing her the opportunity to become more involved at Cal. “Because of the financial assistance from The Leadership Award, I have been able to dedicate countless hours of my time to student groups.”

Through the community of scholars she met in the Leadership Award Scholars Association (LASA), Grace was introduced to several young women who would later become her sorority sisters. Fostering her connections with these women at LASA events strengthened Grace’s confidence and skills to pursue leadership positions in her sorority. During her senior year, Grace’s trajectory of increasing responsibility at her sorority was echoed in LASA, where she served on the Board of Directors. “My work with LASA and Alpha Delta Pi was enriched and strengthened by the capabilities, connections, and experiences that were offered to me from The Leadership Award and CAA.”

The network of supportive alumni at the Cal Alumni Association helped Grace secure post-graduation employment in a challenging job market. This summer she transitions from an internship to a full-time position at a nonprofit organization, Reading Partners, which helps low-income children improve their reading skills. The founders of the nonprofit are Cal alumni who recognize the potential of Leadership Award Scholars.

In looking back at the past four years and the future ahead, Grace adds, “I am grateful for not only the financial aid I received as a CAA Alumni Scholar, but also for the guidance and support from CAA and the alumni community.” She thanks the community of donors who have made her Cal experience possible and encourages them to continue their support. “Please consider donating again to The Leadership Award and help shape another Cal student’s life and future.”
