Vision

The Leadership Award Scholars Association will provide Cal students with opportunities to become leaders within their community and develop philanthropic alumni. The Leadership Award Scholars Association will be a community of engaged student leaders that will support the mission of the Cal Alumni Association and the University of California, Berkeley.

Mission

The Leadership Award Alumni Scholars Association will:

  1. Provide its members with opportunities to develop their leadership skills
  2. host events that are effective yield devices for future UC Berkeley leaders, as well as events that
  3. recognize leaders who exhibit the values of The Leadership Award and lastly,
  4. be a highly visible vehicle for alumni engagement; particularly young alumni.

Programming Division

Alumni Relations

Director: Melody Hung

Alumni Relations is responsible for cultivating a relationship between Leadership Award Scholars and Cal Alumni, particularly alumni who have graduated within the past 10 years. Alumni Relations works to have alumni represented at each LASA event whereby leadership and networking opportunities may be made available. Alumni Relations works to connect generations at Cal, and to cultivate a culture of philanthropy to continue supporting our alma mater.

Overnight Stay Program

Director: Savannah Marks

The Overnight Stay Program (OSP) is LASA's flagship event. OSP inspires high school seniors to be future UC Berkeley students and leaders by stimulating valuable interactions with current Cal Leaders and young alumni by organizing a weekend host program. OSP provides opportunities for leadership development to LASA members by way of its preparation, execution, student interactions, young alumni interactions, and management positions.

Student Events and Receptions

Director: Hannah Grantz

Student Events and Receptions recognizes the achievements of Leadership Award Scholars and inspires further leadership involvement in both our organization and throughout the Cal campus. This committee promotes relations between both alumni and current scholars by hosting events that provide networking and growth in leadership opportunities.

Volunteers

Director: Erin Dunn

Provides Cal students with the chance to showcase their creative leadership skills while working with the Leadership Award Scholars Association. The Volunteer Committee allows scholars actively participate in LASA events, the Cal Alumni Association network, and the community of greater Berkeley. The Volunteer Committee is the backbone of all LASA programs as it is impossible to run any event without the help of our great scholars!

Operations Division

Evaluations

Director: Anne Wang

Evaluations continuously improves LASA's internal operation and event delivery by collaborating with others in our organization to implement suggested improvements. These improvements will be developed by gathering and analyzing data through a series of surveys and other feedback methods for future award scholars to look back on with the goal of constant improvement.

Facilities

Director: Sushma Umesh

Facilities manages the venues and event amenities for all meetings, events, and programs carried out by the Leadership Award Scholars Association. Facilities plays a vital role in the production and successful operation of LASA events that includes comparing amenities used by other campus organizations, internally managing room rentals, and procuring event decorations.

Finance

Director: Andris Kivuls

Finance sets and manages the budget and finances for the Leadership Award Scholars Association as well as organizes fundraisers to financially support LASA. Finance ensures spending is properly budgeted and recorded for all LASA events, programs, and expenditures.

Marketing and Communications

Director: Leah Dorner

The Marketing and Communications informs Leadership Award Scholars about upcoming events and leadership opportunities. This committee aims to increase the visibility of the LASA and its role of supporting and connecting recipients of The Leadership Award on campus through maintaining an event calendar and publicizing events and opportunities.
