What Is Overnight Stay Program?

Overnight Stay Program (OSP) is a long-running tradition for the Leadership Award Scholars Association (LASA) of the Cal Alumni Association. This is LASA’s flagship event and is completely student-run.

It is designed to give current high school seniors who have been admitted to UC Berkeley an opportunity to experience classrooms, dining commons, residence halls, and general student life on the campus. The parents/guardians of these accepted Cal students will also have the opportunity to experience some aspects of Berkeley life. Participants will spend nearly 24 hours on the UC Berkeley campus and in the surrounding city of Berkeley to get an authentic Cal experience!

How Can Alumni Can Get Involved?

Serve as a Panelist

We invite alumni to participate in one (or more) of the alumni panels offered at each of the two OSP sessions. These panels consist of a moderated Q&A session where alumni can discuss how their Cal education has positively affected their lives. Alumni will have the opportunity to directly interact with parents and prospective students by sharing their favorite Cal memories, discussing the strategies they used to be successful at Cal, and promoting the benefits of a Cal education. The ultimate goal of these panels is to enthusiastically persuade prospective students to consider Cal as one of their top university choices while addressing many of their concerns.

Serve as a Speaker at a Dessert Reception

Alumni attending the dessert reception are invited to give a two to five minute speech during part of the reception. Similar to being a panelist, serving as a speaker would entail alumni sharing what their Cal experiences have taught them, where their Berkeley education has led them, or discussing anything else that they believe would be inspiring to the prospective students and would get them thinking about coming to Cal. Dessert is included!

How Do I Sign Up?

Alumni are encouraged to attend as many portions of the event as they can and for as many sessions as possible. To register, please fill out this form. Once you submit the form, the OSP staff will contact you by or before March 21st.
