Overnight Stay Program (OSP) is a two day/one night program (Sunday evening to Monday afternoon) that allows admitted high school seniors to experience life as a Cal student. The 2012 Overnight Stay Program will take place on two separate weekends:
As a host, you will be playing an integral role in our program. High school participants will experience what their first years in the dorms will be like by staying with current Cal student hosts in UC Berkeley dorms on the Sunday night of their OSP session.
If you currently live in University-sponsored housing (ex: Unit 1, 2, 3, Foothill, Bowles, Stern, or Clark Kerr), you can sign up to be a host. Unfortunately, if you live in an off-campus apartment, private residence, or a fraternity/sorority, you cannot sign up to host an incoming student. However, even if you are unable to host, anyone is welcome to volunteer with OSP. Please visit the volunteer page for more information.
Student groups have the opportunity to partner with LASA by encouraging group members to host OSP participants in their residence halls. We will pair OSP participants who indicate specific interest with representative hosts of the indicated student group. Please indicate if you are affiliated with a specific student group and which organization you are representing.
Your main responsibility will be to pick up your assigned student(s) on Sunday night from Alumni House (at approximately 9 p.m.), provide the floor space in your dorm room for the student(s) for one night, and escort them back to Alumni House on Monday morning. Detailed instructions will be sent to you closer to the event once you’ve signed up. LASA will take care of providing all meals and organize activities for them throughout the day.
We try to pair hosts and high school students that have similar academic and/or extracurricular interests, so please fill out the questions in the sign up process as thoroughly and accurately as possible. We encourage you to sign up to host more than one student and to host for more than one OSP session. Please make sure to check ALL the program sessions that you are available to host.
Thank you once again for your contribution to OSP! If you have any questions, please contact us at lasa.osp@gmail.com.
