Dear Alumni and Friends,

It’s the season of giving, when our thoughts turn to all the ways in which we are blessed, and the many ways in which we can, and do, make a difference in the lives of others. As the holidays approach and we enter this season of sharing, I am inspired by how much our alumni give every day. We are a culture that confronts the biggest issues of the day, provides solutions that build healthy communities, and creates a lasting legacy for generations we may never personally know.

I am forever grateful for the profound influence of my time at Cal. First as a wide-eyed undergraduate, growing strong from a demanding and exciting academic environment; then as the beneficiary of the rigorous training I received from the UC Berkeley School of Law, I was equipped through my Cal education to engage the extraordinary challenges and opportunities of my generation. Now, I am privileged to lead the Cal Alumni Association as its Executive Director, a position that allows me to give back to this amazing university every day.

I do not do this alone. I serve beside an outstanding staff of talented people who work hard to fulfill our mission to keep alumni connected and ensure a place for the world’s best scholars to realize their great potential. In partnership with a virtual army of dedicated alumni volunteers who donate thousands of hours each year, we bring the best and brightest to campus. Golden Bears from all over the world provide financial support that ensures our many programs and services keep Cal thriving.

Golden Bears are the best at giving back to our Cal community! You take great ideas and make them possible. So many students would not be at Cal without your staunch support. You sustain and help to grow an alumni community almost half a million strong, and you serve the university in countless ways.

As I contemplate my blessings, I realize how much more Cal gives to me than I can ever return. I am proud to be part of this brilliant community we call the Cal Alumni Association. I am deeply grateful for all that you do to support us, and for your unflagging and generous support of UC Berkeley.

Fiat Lux and Go Bears!
