Coordinator, Marketing and Operations Alumni Chapters & The Berkeley Network

The Cal Alumni Association offers Cal alumni social and professional networking opportunities throughout the United States via the Alumni Chapters Program and The Berkeley Network, alumni career services. We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented marketing and data Coordinator to assist in streamlining data collection and communications processes for Alumni Chapters and The Berkeley Network programs with an emphasis in growing our digital engagement opportunities.

Supervision and Classification:

This position reports to the Associate Director, Alumni Chapters and The Berkeley Network and is classified as an at-will, full-time, non-exempt position, with an appointment term not to exceed June 30, 2019. This position is a one year appointment with the possibility of annual renewal through 6/30/2019.


Data Management and Internal Systems (50%)

  • Manage the Alumni Chapters Database including database design, reports, analytics, and data collection. Partner with IT to implement database improvements and streamline database maintenance.

  • Implement process improvements for engagement and participation data collection. Collaborate with team to maximize engagement and participation by UCB alumni, meet department metric goals, and improve overall efficiency of current data collection practices.

  • Ensure all Alumni Chapter and The Berkeley Network volunteers and participants are coded in UC Berkeley’s advancement information system, the Cal Advancement Data System (CADS).

  • Support the Alumni Chapters and Berkeley Network team in streamlining and documenting internal operations and procedures.

Marketing and Communications (40%)

  • Support CAA staff and alumni volunteers in implementing marketing strategies to increase participation and digital engagement using email, social media, and website campaigns.

  • Serve as the marketing and communications point person on the Alumni Chapters/The Berkeley Network team. Liaise with CAA’s central marketing and communications department.

  • Promote and ensure consistent communication style and brand image, and cultivate brand loyalty with all Alumni Chapters/networks communications.

  • Advise the Alumni Chapters and Berkeley Network team and alumni volunteers on planning and logistics for online events, webinars, and live streaming.

General (10%)

  • Support the planning and logistics for CAA alumni events, including online events, webinars, and live streaming.

  • Provide direction to student intern(s), as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree.

  • Solutions oriented self-starter.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication, analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent computer skills, preferably using Google applications.

  • Experience using email marketing tools and complex databases (e.g., looking up information, extracting data, creating and generating reports). Salesforce experience is a plus.

  • Social media skills.

  • Detail-oriented, acute accuracy, and proven organizational skills.  

  • Ability to work independently, and with teams, with minimal supervision.

  • Enthusiastic, flexible and positive “can do” attitude.

  • Flexibility in schedule to work occasional evenings and weekends.

  • Ability to travel to limited meetings and events in California and out-of-state domestically.

  • Able to lift/push/pull up to 20 pounds and willing to move equipment and supplies.

  • Submit to and pass Consumer Report and FBI/DOJ background check investigations.

  • Possess valid CA driver’s license and clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Experience working and communicating with diverse and multigenerational groups of people, and with communities of students and/or alumni.

  • Knowledge of UC Berkeley’s alumni development database (CADS).

  • Experience with EventBrite and event management tools.

  • Experience setting up scalable webinars, online events, live streaming, conference calls, and using basic HTML.

  • Working knowledge of UC Berkeley, the Cal Alumni Association or other alumni organizations.

  • UC Berkeley alumnus/a.

Salary and Benefits:

Pay rate is between $20-22 per hour and is eligible to participate in company-sponsored benefits. CAA offers a competitive benefits package, participation in a 403(b)with company match and generous paid time‐off benefits.
