Stewardship Manager, Alumni Scholarships

The Stewardship Manager will manage fundraising and stewardship efforts which support the annual and endowment goals of CAA’s three scholarship programs. In partnership with the Senior Director, Major Gifts, Alumni Scholarships, this position is responsible for designing, implementing and coordinating a comprehensive donor relations and stewardship system that appropriately and consistently cultivates and stewards scholarship donors at all levels.  

This position reports to the Senior Director, Major Gifts, Alumni Scholarships.

  • Participates in the development and implementation of donor relations and stewardship strategies.

  • Personally manage a small portfolio of alumni scholarship prospects by implementing identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for each prospect.

  • Partner with CAA Alumni Scholarships team on the management of endowment database, donor-student matching process, and effective information-sharing mechanisms for stewarding prospects and donors.

  • Manage and oversee a donor acknowledgement and recognition program(s) including oversight of information tracking processes for acknowledgement, recognition, on-going communications and cultivation of alumni scholarship donors.

  • Lead the strategic planning and implementation of stewardship communications efforts, including Giving Notes.

  • Analyze effectiveness of stewardship strategies and programs, making and implementing strategic and operational recommendations.

  • Oversee  the preparation of invitation lists, mailing lists, and data reports for use in individual and group donor relations and stewardship activities for alumni scholarship donors.

  • Oversee and execute alumni scholarship donor-student events in collaboration with the Scholarships team.

  • Develop and manage the $50K stewardship events budget.

  • Supervise stewardship coordinator.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant work experience.

  • Creative, proactive, strategic, detail-oriented and consistent with a strong commitment to excellence, quality, timeliness, efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and mature judgment. Ability to act with discretion in all matters.

  • Ability to work under pressure.

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and development databases.

  • Critical and strategic thinker and possess strong time management skills, as well as a professional and courteous demeanor and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.

  • Ability to maintain working knowledge of best practices in the field of donor relations and stewardship.

  • Understanding of database management, gift processing, and donor relations.

  • Ability to plan and execute events and programs, and measure their impact.

  • Experience developing, measuring and reporting on  strategies, performance metrics, and budgets.

  • Experience managing administrative staff.

  • Experience delivering high level of customer service.

  • Ability to learn and use CADS (Cal Advancement Data System).

  • Willingness and ability to travel and to work nights and weekends, as required.

  • Must submit to and pass background check and FBI/DOJ fingerprint screening.

  • Must have valid CA driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

  • Familiarity with and connected within the Cal alumni community.

Salary and Benefits:
