Allard Chu ’09
Allard Chu ’09 is a passionate Cal alumnus who aims to make a difference on the Board by helping to develop policies that foster a more connected and spirited alumni community. Allard believes that a vibrant alumni community can provide a support system for future generations of students as they transition from students to alumni. As the son of first-generation immigrants from Hong Kong, Allard is deeply passionate about the powerful, transformative effects of a well-rounded education in pursuing the American dream.
As co-chair of the Chapters committee, Allard is particularly interested in developing the global community for Cal alumni. Allard’s commitment to the Cal community previously led him to serve on the Board of Directors of the Cal Alumni Club of Washington DC. Also, he served as the Vice President of Activities of the DC chapter—overseeing over 100 events for alumni engagement—and managed the chapter’s relationships with local business partners.
Allard currently works as an attorney in Orange County. He is a commercial litigator with an emphasis in franchise and distribution law, intellectual property, and complex business litigation. He earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from UC Berkeley in 2009 as part of the 3/2 program while concurrently earning his B.A. in Business Management Economics from UC Santa Cruz in 2008. He earned his J.D. from The George Washington Law School.
In his personal time, Allard enjoys racing motorcycles, barbecuing, and traveling.
