Finance & Operations Reporting Manager

Responsibilities

  • Report to the CFO and work cross-functionally with other department management
    and must be willing to work onsite during scheduled work hours at the Association’s Berkeley,
    CA offices when requested by management. The need for onsite presence may be heaviest during
    accounting close, audits, and at times during the financial planning cycle.
  • Prepare monthly GAAP-compliant financial statements including the Statements of Financial
  • Position, Statements of Activities, and Statement of Cash Flows. Additionally, prepare any
    internal management accounting reports at departmental levels, cost analyses, operational KPI
    reports, and Board presentation materials.
  • Assist with business recordkeeping and contracts compliance including maintaining up-to-date
    and accurate copies of customer agreements, vendor agreements, tax documentation, regulatory
    filings, insurance policies, and other business records. Organize the business records electronic
    filing folders system.
  • Trace back numbers in financial statements to source transactions and cash and asset accounts.
    Review budget variances and prepare variance explanations.
  • Assist with internal audit and business process redesign projects that involve quantitative
    elements of business management.
  • Assist with documentation of Financial Reporting policies and procedures.
  • Assist with preparation for annual financial audit by independent CPA firm.
  • Performs miscellaneous duties in accounting department, and other duties as assigned by the
    CFO.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience in financial reporting. Excellent quantitative analysis skills and ability to create
    and improve financial processes.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, business, mathematics, data science,
    physical science, engineering or another quantitative analysis related field.
  • Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Experience
    working in public accounting, a finance or accounting degree, or CPA certification preferred.
  • Strong work ethic, well organized with excellent attention to detail. Ability to work
    efficiently, multi-task, and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write clearly and
    concisely. Demonstrate ability to communicate complex subject matters as simply as possible
    with non-finance professionals.
  • Excellent computer skills, including using accounting software programs, Excel, Word, and
    PowerPoint.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize projects under difficult time constraints.
  • Able to interact effectively with diverse groups of people.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge and familiarity of the University of California, Berkeley, and the Cal campus

Salary and Benefits

This position is classified as an at-will, full-time, exempt position. Pay range will be between $110,000-$125,000 annualized, depending on experience. The role is eligible to participate in company-sponsored benefits, our 403(b) plan with a company match, and generous paid time off. The Cal Alumni Association is preparing for our return to the office. Staff will be expected to work a hybrid schedule, with some jobs required to work onsite a majority of the time depending on job duties.
