Marketing Associate
The Cal Alumni Association (CAA) is seeking a Marketing Associate to help us deliver inspiring experiences to our community of 575,000+ living Cal alums. The Marketing Associate contributes to our growth by producing digital materials for key marketing initiatives and ensuring projects stay on track. Our ideal candidate has previous experience in content production and campaign support, keen attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
CAA is a mid-sized, dynamic, and multifaceted nonprofit organization committed to providing programs and services that keep Cal alumni of all ages and interests connected to UC Berkeley and to each other. Our programs include an award-winning magazine, scholarships, career services, events, family camp, travel, and more.
SUPERVISOR, WORK SCHEDULE, AND LOCATION:
The Marketing Associate reports to the Senior Director, Marketing and Communications. The position is located in Berkeley, California, with offices at Alumni House on the UC Berkeley campus. The Marketing Assistant will work a hybrid schedule in line with job duties and business needs, with some time working in the office and some time working remotely.

Responsibilities
Campaign Production
- Create and update HTML email templates for campaigns, ensuring they are responsive, visually appealing, and optimized for key performance metrics.
- Test and troubleshoot email templates across clients and devices.
- Assist in email campaign planning, execution, and reporting.
- Ensure digital content meets or exceeds our standards for accessibility.
- Collaborate with Senior Brand Designer, Marketing Manager, and other team members to develop ideas and optimize digital content.
- Edit and lay out compelling web pages and blog posts to maintain high-quality standards.
Project Management Support
- Assist with the intake, planning, and execution of marketing projects, ensuring deadlines are met.
- Track project progress and communicate with team members to ensure timely completion.
- Maintain project timelines and schedules, updating stakeholders on progress as needed.
- Organize and coordinate tasks among team members to ensure smooth project execution.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, media, business, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1-2 years of professional experience in a relevant marketing or communications role.
- Strong understanding of HTML and email marketing platforms (we use Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Mailchimp).
- Familiar with content management systems (CMS) like WordPress.
- Comfortable using Photoshop for basic image editing. Additional experience with Adobe Creative Cloud design programs is a plus.
- Experience using project management tools (we use Workfront) preferred.
- Highly organized, with strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Salary and Benefits
This is a full-time, exempt position with a pay range of $68,640–70,000 annualized. The Cal Alumni Association offers competitive health care benefits, generous vacation and holiday paid time off benefits, and a 403(b) plan with a company match. CAA staff, while not University of California employees, are eligible to participate in many professional development courses, programs, and discounts offered by UC Berkeley. COVID-19 Temporary Adjustments
The Cal Alumni Association is preparing for our return to the office. Staff will be expected to work a hybrid schedule, with some jobs required to work onsite a majority of the time depending on job duties. Staff will be required to take a COVID-19 test on campus through University Health Services, and provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination or request an exception due to disability, medical or sincerely held religious belief.

Health Care Benefits:
- CAA employees are required to contribute 10% of their total medical premium for the employee and 20% for any eligible dependents.

Paid Time Off Benefits:
- Vacation: 16 days/year for first 2 years of service, 18 days/year after completing 2 years of service, 21 days/year after completing 5 years of service.
