Anh Tran Appointed Interim Chief Program Officer by the Cal Alumni Association

Interim Chief Program Officer Anh Tran

Berkeley, California, April 4, 2017 – The Cal Alumni Association (CAA), UC Berkeley’s alumni association, has appointed Anh Tran ’06, M.A. as Interim Chief Program Officer. Tran joined CAA in 2016 as director of CAA’s Alumni Scholars Program, and has more than 10 years experience in volunteer and program management, education, community development, and capacity building.

As Interim Chief Program Officer, Tran oversees CAA’s alumni engagement programs, which include alumni events, scholarships programs for Cal students, and the management of more than 90 alumni chapters across the United States. Anh will assume leadership of the Alumni Engagement Expansion (AEX) initiative launched in 2017 to increase the number of UC Berkeley alumni who are actively engaged in support of the University.

Tran holds a bachelor of arts in economics and mass communications from UC Berkeley and a master’s degree in public administration from USC. She received CAA’s Leadership Award as an undergraduate student at UC Berkeley, and was involved with the REACH! Asian & Pacific Islander Recruitment and Retention Center, UC Berkeley Public Service Center, Cal Student Leadership Symposium, and the Prytanean Women’s Honor Society. Tran currently serves as treasurer of the Prytanean Alumnae Chapter.

Tran’s accomplishments have included directing capacity-building programs that served 1,000 non-profit organizations in Southern California, and co-designing and implementing community-building programs for The Nonprofit Partnership, AmeriCorps, and Teach for America. “Anh is incredibly well-versed in non-profits and an active officer in the Prytanean Alumnae Chapter,” says CAA Executive Director Cloey Hewlett. “An exceptional member of CAA’s leadership team, Anh revitalized CAA’s Alumni Scholars Program, and hit the ground running to lead our alumni programs. We are overjoyed to have Anh step into this larger role.”

Through the AEX initiative, a three-year strategic plan to increase the number of engaged Cal alumni, CAA is deepening its investment in programs and services that support alumni and students. The AEX initiative furthers CAA’s mission to connect Cal alumni with each other, and with UC Berkeley, by expanding CAA’s internal resources and campus partnerships to provide more engagement opportunities for the alumni community.

“AEX provides alumni with resources and support to give back to CAA and the Cal community,” says Tran. “I’m excited about the high-touch and high-tech tools our team will put in place to connect alumni to alumni and alumni to students. We’re building new pathways to engage students and alumni, from an alumna’s first job to her lasting legacy.”
