We know that the coronavirus (COVID-19) has raised several questions and concerns about upcoming trips, many of which have been postponed. We also realize how hard it is to have travel plans changed when you were looking forward to them. As we deal with uncertainty around the coronavirus in many aspects of our lives, please know that your safety and comfort in traveling with Cal Discoveries remains our number one priority. We continue to work closely with our tour operators as news changes to keep you updated.
Existing 2020 Reservations
As each trip approaches, tour operators will contact confirmed travelers directly via email with any status updates. In the event your trip must be postponed or canceled, operators will provide you with options for next steps. The option you choose is a personal decision. It is important to remember that Cal Discoveries Travel is not responsible for trips postponed or canceled by our vendors; all traveler payments are processed by each vendor directly, and the vendor’s specific trip and cancellation policies remain in place.
Extended Cancellation Windows
In some cases, our tour operators and their suppliers have relaxed the cancellation and final payment windows for trips in 2020. Please refer to the most recent emails from your provider for details.
Applying Travel Vouchers
In most instances, our tour operators will offer a trip voucher to be redeemed at a later date. They are not offering refunds in cash, but will issue refunds in the form of a travel voucher. We encourage you to take advantage of the vouchers and would love to have you join us on one of our sponsored tours in 2021. Please note that vouchers must be redeemed with the same tour operator used in your original booking.
To assist you in making your selection, we have included links to the 2021 tours by tour operator below. Our website will be the source of the most up-to-date information for all our 2021 trips. If you are interested in a trip with a tour operator that you don’t see listed below, please email us (firstname.lastname@example.org) and we can work to offer a trip that is not listed.
Travel Insurance Questions
If you purchased travel insurance, please be sure to contact your provider as soon as possible to take care of any changes that may need to be made. For policies with USI, there is a customer service team available Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Eastern Time. Please call 800.937.1387 or email email@example.com for assistance. Due to a high volume of calls and emails, please expect longer-than-average wait times. If the phone line is busy, you are encouraged to submit your questions via email.
Tour Operators and 2021 Trips
In response to recent instruction around COVID-19, the Cal Alumni Association’s physical offices are temporarily closed to protect the health of our employees, alumni, students, and community. The Cal Alumni Association (CAA) staff continue to work from remote environments. For the latest updates from campus regarding COVID-19, please visit news.berkeley.edu/coronavirus. Most of our partners have done the same in accordance with their local regulations. We appreciate your patience and understanding if your communication with either our office or theirs is delayed.
