Laura Mullen

Laura Mullen ’84 (poet and author of nine books) has recently translated French novelist Stéphanie Chaillou’s first book (quelque chose se passe, or—in English—something happens). Published as poetry, the book is a deeply entangled series of vivid and original image-based texts, a feminist hybrid memoir which alerts us to the instability of identity, involving the reader in the effort to hold the thread of coherence, linking disparate times and experiences, and expanding our understanding of what it means to live, grow, and change. The book, with a translator’s introduction, is available this summer from the New Orleans’ based press Lavender Ink / Diálogos.
