Philip L. Glick

Philip L. Glick, MD, MBA, FACS, FRCS (Eng.), professor of surgery at the University at Buffalo’s Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, has established the Philip L. Glick Endowed Lectureship in the Business of Surgery. The series highlights the growing importance of business education for surgeons and healthcare leaders.

A 1975 UC Berkeley graduate with a B.A. in Human Genetics and a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Glick credits Berkeley mentors Seymour Fogel, John Hearst, and future Nobel laureate Thomas R. Cech with influencing his academic development.

After earning an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management in 2005, Glick helped advance MD-MBA education at Buffalo and supported efforts to provide MBA training for surgical residents through the Department of Surgery’s SurgeryPlus program.

The inaugural lecture will be delivered by Mark Talamini, senior vice president of Northwell Health and executive director of Northwell Health Physician Partners. A gastrointestinal surgeon by training, Talamini leads a physician organization of more than 4,200 physicians and 9,000 staff and is recognized for his work in laparoscopic and robotic-assisted surgery.
