Pamela Arbuckle Alston, MPP ’84, retired as dental director at Alameda Health System and went on to serve as the 97th National Dental Association president in 2021. Her presidential theme was Forging and Fortifying Partnerships for Health Equity. She currently serves as lead oral health specialist at Humanitas, Inc., which has the U.S. Department of Labor Job Corps program’s health support contract. She also serves on the California Partnership for Oral Health Steering Committee. Locally, Pam serves her hometown as a member of the City of Oakland’s Sugar-Sweetened Beverage Community Advisory Board. Last year, she became a Berkeley Fellow.
