Lair of the Bear Open House

Join us at noon on Sunday, February 2 at Alumni House!

Learn about the Lair of the Bear, meet members of the Lair team, visit with Lair campers and staffers, make new friends, and have a great time!

Whether you’re new to the Lair or have camped for years, we can’t wait to share a slice of Lair magic with you! Join us and discover how the Lair is an incredible all-inclusive vacation value for the whole family.

At the Open House, you’ll enjoy prizes, face painting, games, and other family-friendly fun. We’ll serve light snacks, beer and wine (21 and older), and non-alcoholic drinks. After the Open House, you are welcome to join us to cheer on the stellar Cal Women’s Basketball team as they take on the Pittsburgh Panthers at Haas Pavilion.

We ask that you register for our event just so we can get a head count. Game tickets can be purchased at link below.

Open House Details

The Lair Open House opens at 12:00 p.m. at Alumni House in Berkeley. We will have light snacks and drinks for everyone, plus prizes and activities like making s’mores and face painting for kids. We will also share a slideshow, so you if you haven’t camped with us yet, you can get a sense of what Lair life is like!

We will wrap things up around 1:30 p.m. Then we’ll walk just a few steps over to Haas Pavilion where our Lair crew will cheer for the Golden Bears as they take on the Pittsburg Panthers at 2:00 p.m.

Our Open House is free, yet we hope you’ll choose to join us in supporting the Golden Bears. They are great Lair supporters (and campers!). If you purchase your discounted game tickets in advance, we can all sit together. Tickets will also be available on-site before the game.

We welcome ALL! You don’t need to be a Cal alum to join us at our Open House or to camp at the Lair.

The Lair of the Golden Bear is best known for its action-packed summer programs, but with the opening of 15 cozy heated cabins, those seeking cool-weather adventures have a place to hibernate. The cabins are open year-round on select weekends and available to all—no Cal affiliation required—for family reunions, work retreats, weekends with family and friends, and other group outings.
