More About Our Fire Assessment Fee
Wildfires have become a very real threat to homes and businesses throughout California and other states. Fire insurance rates have skyrocketed, and some insurance carriers are dropping policyholders, leaving the California wildfire insurance market altogether, which means fewer options to obtain affordable fire insurance.
Rate increases have greatly impacted the Lair, and we have struggled to find sustainable solutions. In addition, like most other businesses in California, all our other costs also continue to rise. Food, propane, supplies, maintenance, utilities, and wages have all increased, although fire insurance costs have seen the most significant and unpredictable changes. To help cover this cost, the Lair will be assessing a Fire Assessment Fee, which will be added to camper booking fees and go specifically towards the cost of the Lair’s fire insurance coverage.
At Camps Blue and Gold, the Fire Assessment Fees are as follows:
Weeks 2 – 10: Large tent – $582; Medium tent – $370; Small tent: $158
Family Weekend (Aug. 21-23): Large tent – $203; Medium tent – $130; Small tent – $56
Labor Day Weekend: Large tent – $278; Medium tent – $176; Small tent – $75
For Camp Oski, Specialty Camp, and Bear Music Fest campers, the Fire assessment Fee is $15/day/person and included in the rates show above.
