Around the World, Alumni Welcome New Students to Berkeley

Summer Welcome Parties have been in full swing this summer! Even while navigating unprecedented times, the Golden Bears community remains a vibrant and welcoming hub.

The CAA Chinese Chapter hosted an in-person event in collaboration with Haas Alumni Chapters in Shanghai, Beijing, and China. The event welcomed new students to Haas, and additional attendees were able to participate in the event virtually, through a joint Zoom session. Interested in joining the Chinese Chapter? A combined summer send-off and welcome event for incoming students was hosted by Cal Bears in the Desert, representing the Coachella and Imperial Valleys. Welcome packages included t-shirts, cinch bags, face masks, pencils, folders and more. A resource folder was also provided for incoming students, which featured campus contacts. The Cal Alumni Clubs of New England, New York, Austin, and Philadelphia came together for a collaborative virtual event to welcome the incoming class of 2025. The group shared their favorite local Berkeley eateries, how to develop meaningful relationships with professors and mentors, and navigating dorm life. Interested in joining one of these chapters? The Midwest is the land of the Golden Bears! The Cal Alumni Club of Chicago and Motor City Bears of Southeast Michigan hosted a virtual joint welcome party where current ASUC President Chaka Tellem ’23 spoke. Learn more about the Cal Alumni Club of Chicago and Motor City Bears.

The Rocky Mountain Golden Bears welcomed students from their home states of Colorado and Wyoming. Get involved with the Rocky Mountain Golden Bears and help represent Cal spirit in the Rocky Mountain region.

The Cal Alumni Club of Washington D.C. hosted a virtual event for incoming first-years in the greater DC area. The smaller group allowed for personal conversations between incoming students and alumni. The event ended with a virtual performance from the Cal Band.
