The Achievement Award Program

The Achievement Award Program (TAAP) provides high-achieving, community-minded students from low-income and first generation backgrounds with resources to complete their undergraduate degree at UC Berkeley. This scholarship comes with holistic programming to support TAAP scholars in their personal, academic, and professional growth. Participation in this programming is mandatory and will connect TAAP scholars to a community of Alumni Scholars, Cal alumni, and staff to help them successfully navigate Cal.

Program Details
  1. Enrollment at UC Berkeley.
  2. Participation in retreats, workshops, alumni engagement events, and one-on-one advising throughout the academic year. Look over last year’s program agreement to get a sense of the scholarship expectations before applying.
  3. “Satisfactory Academic Progress” as defined by the Office of Financial Aid and the scholar’s college.

  • Must be eligible for Cal Grant B, check your eligibility here
  • Completed high-school or GED requirements in California, please note this is regardless of immigration status
  • Must be an incoming first year undergraduate
  • Be a registered UC Berkeley student for Fall 2024 – Spring 2025
  • Apply by May 12, 2024
Incoming Junior Transfer
  • Must be eligible for Cal Grant B, check your eligibility here
  • Completed high-school, GED or community college transfer requirements in California, please note this is regardless of immigration status
  • Must be an incoming community college junior transfer student
  • Must be a registered UC Berkeley student for Fall 2024 -Spring 2025
  • Apply by May 12, 2024

Application Process
Eligible students go to calalumni.academicworks.com, create an account, and submit an application by May 12, 2024. The chart below outlines the timeline for each phase in the application process:

 Prospective Cal students file a UC Application.
Students apply online for The Achievement Award.
 Finalists interview with alumni for the award
