In the blink of an eye, summer has come to a close, and a new academic year has begun here at UC Berkeley. This summer, Alumni Chapters across the country welcomed our newest Golden Bears with open arms—sharing advice, stories, and Cal spirit.
Cal Bears in the Desert had a record turnout, with nearly one hundred attendees from the Coachella and Imperial Valley areas. In Illinois, the Cal Alumni Club of Chicago gave out blue and gold swag bags filled with Cal swag for incoming students, not only from Illinois, but also Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. Our Rocky Mountain Golden Bears hosted students from Wyoming and Colorado at a restaurant to connect, share housing information, and form friendships. In Boston, the Cal Alumni Club of New England served hot dogs and hamburgers; parents of incoming students also formed friendships among one another, in addition to their Golden Bears. The Cal Alumni Club of Los Angeles hosted a raffle of Cal swag and enjoyed tacos together. The Pilipinx American Chapter played interactive games with students and their families and served boba and pastries. In Arizona, the Cal Alumni Club of Phoenix offered valuable insight from alumni to incoming Golden Bears, emphasizing the importance of embracing challenges, seizing opportunities, and maintaining resilience.
