On Sunday, September 8, 2019, more than 500 Cal alumni, faculty, students, and friends joined together at the annual Oakland LGBTQ+ Pride Parade and Festival. For the third year in a row, the Cal Alumni Association (CAA) partnered with UC Berkeley’s Gender Equity Resource Center (GenEq) to lead the Cal contingent of marchers and host Cal’s official booth at the Festival.

Donning “Fiat Love” shirts to show their support for our LGBTQ+ community, marchers began the celebration before the parade by making signs, dancing, and applying rainbow flag temporary tattoos. At the end of the parade, the Cal contingent arrived at the festival where they were able to spin a wheel for special Cal-themed giveaways and enjoy fantastic food offerings and a multitude of stage performances.

The contingent was a sea of blue, gold, and rainbow, as Cal cheer cards were held up alongside rainbow flags and handmade posters celebrating our wonderfully diverse Cal community.
