Professor Stephen Small, Ph.D.
Stephen Small is a professor in the Department of African Diaspora Studies at the University of California, Berkeley, where he teaches courses in the comparative historical sociology of Africans throughout the diaspora, with focus on the U.S., the Caribbean, and England. He earned his Ph.D. in Sociology at the University of California, Berkeley (1989); his M.Sc. in Social Sciences from the University of Bristol (1983); and his B.A. (honours) in Economics and Sociology from the University of Kent at Canterbury (1979).
