  We listen! On every trip evaluation, we ask where you would like to travel next and take that information into consideration when planning the following year’s trips. We cover the globe, offering a diverse selection, including cruises (ocean and river), land trips, and trips that combine both. We have small group tours, and our trips are offered at a variety of activity levels and prices.

  We at the Cal travel office have over 35 years of experience in the travel industry. You will be treated with respect, have your questions answered, and enjoy an amazing travel experience from start to finish when you make your reservations on a Cal Discoveries Travel trip.

• Lifelong learning

  An educational component is a significant part of our program. Often, faculty lecturers accompany our trips and we partner with tour operators who provide informative local lecturers to enhance your vacation. Travel in and of itself is a learning experience. Goal

The goal of Cal Discoveries Travel is to provide the University of California, Berkeley community with an exciting combination of discovery, learning, and adventure in educationally oriented travel. 

Program

Cal Discoveries Travel is designed from proposals by specialized wholesale tour operators. Whenever appropriate, we add Cal-specific components; faculty lecturers, visits to research sites, contacts with other Cal Alumni Groups, pre-departure informational calls and special events, etc. All participants are expected to enjoy traveling as part of a group and to be tolerant of the occasional changes, delays or minor mishaps that are part of any kind of travel.

Cal Alumni Association is registered as a California Seller of Travel (registration number 2090031-50), and each year, operates a few of its own trips.
