Owen Leonard Knapper Jr. is a dedicated student at the University of California, Berkeley, pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with plans to minor in Ethnic Studies. Born in Los Angeles and raised in Rialto, California, Owen is 21 years old and has consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to community engagement and advocacy throughout his academic journey. At UC Berkeley, he has held key leadership roles, including serving as ASUC Chief of Staff to the Office of the President and as an ASUC Senator. He is also an active member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, where he currently serves as the Western Region Assistant Vice President. Passionate about social justice, Owen is focused on deepening his understanding of social concerns, social movements, youth advocacy, racial inequality, and democracy.
As he continues his undergraduate studies, Owen is eager to build lasting relationships, expand his professional network through internships, and remain steadfast in his commitment to making a positive impact in the communities he serves. His leadership, advocacy, and dedication to equity are central to his academic and extracurricular pursuits, reflecting his goal to foster meaningful change and empower others.
As a CAA board member, Owen looks forward to bridging the gap between students and alumni through intentional programming. He is committed to supporting the establishment of alumni chapters within various states to assist incoming students whether they are entering the university directly from high school or transferring from community college systems. By fostering these connections, Owen aims to create a supportive network that enhances the student experience and strengthens the broader university community.
