About UC Berkeley Extension

Founded in 1891, UC Berkeley Extension is the continuing education division of the University of California, Berkeley. Today, we provide educational opportunities to more than 45,000 students each year by offering more than 2,000 courses annually, including in the online format.

You can take individual classes or choose from more than 70 professional certificates and specialized programs of study.

Like all other UC Berkeley schools, colleges and departments, we are accredited by WASC through the University. This ensures that your education is of the highest quality.

All of our courses and instructors are approved by the corresponding academic departments on the UC Berkeley campus through a rigorous vetting process. Both the courses and instructors receive a final review and approval by the UC Berkeley Academic Senate.
