Journey into the scenic wilds of America's most northern state, through Alaska's rugged forests to the magnificent, six-million acre Denali National Park and Reserve.

Tour Highlights

Walk Denali National Park’s trails with a naturalist guide, and choose from optional excursions to personalize your adventure.
Keep binoculars close at hand to observe Denali’s wildlife. This dazzling and vast wilderness is home to Dall sheep, eagles, wolves, migrating caribou, and grizzly bears—and catching sight of them is a thrill not soon forgotten.
Enjoy a special dinner including a presentation by a Murie Science and Learning Center educator.
Listen to an Alaskan homesteader’s tale of summiting Denali.
Travel aboard the historic Alaska Railroad with superior viewing from your upgraded seat in the glass-domed GoldStar train car.
Cal Discoveries guests will enjoy this experience in the company of other intellectually curious travelers from a variety of alumni associations.

What to expect: These trips feature long touring days with travel via motor coach, ship, zodiac, all-terrain vehicle, or train. Travelers are required to board transportation without assistance as well as stand and walk over uneven terrain for extended periods of time. Some tours may include optional higher-intensity activities and travel at higher altitudes with steep ascents and descents. Outings last four to six hours most days.

Suitable for: Travelers who are able to comfortably walk four to six miles, or 6,900–9,200 steps, each day.
