Interview Scholarship Finalists
Join fellow Cal alumni to interview scholarship finalists for The Leadership Award (TLA) and The Achievement Award Program (TAAP) and strengthen your connection to Cal while networking with fellow alums and meeting prospective Cal students.
How It Works
Interview panels are conducted via Zoom lead by the Alumni Scholarships & Engagement Program Program (ASEP) staff and volunteers. All interviewers are given an orientation that includes information about how to assess a candidate’s fit for the scholarship program and best practices for interviewing. The interview is conducted via a panel interview of fellow alum.

About the Alumni Scholars Program
Since 1934, the Cal Alumni Association’s Alumni Scholarships & Engagement Program (ASEP) has provided scholarship support to undergraduate students at UC Berkeley. The ASEP currently awards more than $2.6 million dollars annually to incoming and continuing Cal undergraduates.

Volunteer Details
Interviewers assess Alumni Scholarship applicants for the academic year and submit scoring to the Alumni Scholarship and Engagement Program team.
Qualifications
Volunteers must:
- Be UC Berkeley alumni
- Not be a direct relation to any Alumni Scholars Program applicant
- Complete an Interview Orientation (Provided day of interview event)
- Commit to a minimum of approximately 4 hours (which includes an orientation plus approximately 3-4 interviews)
- Be in good standing with the Cal Alumni Association
