Kiran Rao is COO of Value Creation at Vista Equity Partners, and is based in San Francisco. He was previously an Operating Partner with TPG Capital, where he was a leader on the Technology Sector team.

Prior to joining TPG in 2010, Kiran was a consultant at McKinsey & Company, serving TMT and PE clients, and before that worked in Silicon Valley with Accenture, Cisco Systems, and Asera, a Kleiner Perkins software start-up. He has served on for-profit boards for over ten TPG portfolio companies, including Digital.ai, WellSky, Everfi, Univision, Chobani, and Cirque Du Soleil; and on several nonprofit boards.

He received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering and computer science at UC Berkeley as a Chancellor’s Scholar, and an MBA from Columbia Business School as a Dean’s Scholar. During his time at Cal, Kiran was elected president of the Engineers’ Joint Council, the representative organization for students in the College of Engineering, and served as director of the Berkeley Engineering Fund. Kiran is also a member of the Order of the Golden Bear.

Kiran is married to Sumi Aggarwal, a fellow Cal alum. Sumi and Kiran have two and a half rambunctious kids (two daughters and a spaniel), and live in Los Altos.
