Career Connections Series

CAA has teamed up with the UC Berkeley Career Center to help students make connections and gain clarity in their career pursuits.

For each of these casual networking events, we are seeking a diverse group of alumni to showcase a variety of careers. The events require no prep—simply chat with interested students, share your path from Cal to career, and offer advice to those who hope to follow in your footsteps.

Spring 2018 Events

Events are two hours each, from 6 – 8 p.m. The Cal Alumni Association and Career Center host a brief networking reception for alumni volunteers at 5:30 p.m. with light refreshments. All events are located at the UC Berkeley Career Center or Alumni House unless otherwise noted.

Interest Form

February 1, 2018 — Human Resources
We are seeking a diverse group of approximately 15–20 alumni to represent the various roles in HR. The event will require minimal prep work from attendees; simply arrive and share your insider knowledge of the industry through introductions and casual conversations.
February 7, 2018 — Arts & Design
In collaboration with the Jacobs Institute for Design Innovation and Publications and Media Center, we are seeking alumni and professionals in a multitude of fields involving arts, design, and/or technology! The event will require minimal prep work from attendees; simply arrive and share your insider knowledge of the marketing and media industry through introductions and casual conversations.
February 28, 2018 — Consulting
We are seeking alumni working in a variety of consulting roles such as management, operations, financial advisory, HR, IT and more! The event will require minimal prep work from attendees; simply arrive and share your insider knowledge of the industry through introductions and casual conversations.
March 7, 2018 — Business Roles in Health
We are seeking alumni who work in a variety of roles within the healthcare industry, outside of direct healthcare providers. From finance and human resources to policy and quality improvement, we invite alumni to help share with Cal students the many (non-clinical) opportunities to contribute to healthcare. The event will require minimal prep work from attendees; simply arrive and share your insider knowledge through introductions and casual conversations.
March 15, 2018 — Social Impact
We are seeking alumni working in nonprofit, government, or for-profit organizations with programs, products, or services centered on bettering the world and lives of its inhabitants. The event will require minimal prep work from attendees; simply arrive and share your insider knowledge of the industry through introductions and casual conversations.
March 20, 2018 — Educational Technology (EdTech)
Are you working in the educational technology sector? We would love to welcome you back to campus to introduce you to current Berkeley students interested in industry at the nexus of technology and education. The event will require minimal prep work from attendees; simply arrive and share your insider knowledge in the field.
Week of March 26, 2018 — Entertainment in Los Angeles
We are seeking alumni working in various fields within the entertainment industry such as music, film, television, writing, law, fashion, and more! This event will be held in Los Angeles during spring break. The event will require minimal prep work from attendees; simply arrive and share your insider knowledge in the field.
April 4, 2018 — Sports Industry
We are seeking dynamic alumni who are working in a variety of fields in the sports industry such as coaching, fitness, broadcasting, social media, and more! The event will require minimal prep work from attendees; simply arrive and share your insider knowledge in the field.
April 17, 2018 — Ph.D.s
We are seeking Ph.D. alumni working in a variety of roles and industries to share their Cal to career story with students. Ph.D. recruiters are also encouraged to participate. The event will require minimal prep work from attendees; simply arrive and share your insider knowledge in the field.
