Event Details and FAQs

Golden Bear Orientation is a mandatory week-long orientation before classes begin for the fall semester. Golden Bear Orientation replaces Cal Student Orientation (CalSO) as the introductory program welcoming students to UC Berkeley. CAA is committed to involving alumni as much as possible in new student activities.

Career Connections events require very little preparation—simply chat with interested students, share your path from Cal to career, and offer advice to those who hope to follow in your footsteps. Due to the size of this event alumni will receive formal instructions at a mandatory orientation on Sunday, August 20 at 4:15 p.m.

  • Updated Info: Limited parking will be reserved for alumni volunteers at the Dwinelle Parking Lot. UC Berkeley is also accessible via public transportation.
  • View the Visit Alumni House page for directions.
  • Top Dog will be provided for all alumni volunteers at the Alumni Reception.

Why Volunteer?

  • Assist Cal students of all class standings with their career development
  • Share your expertise and knowledge about your field and the work world
  • Build new connections with the Cal campus and reflect upon your time here
  • Meet smart Cal students who might become great interns or employees at your organization
