Dear Cal family,

We know that the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has had a tremendous impact on the personal lives of all those in our global Cal community. Your ongoing connection and collective support is invaluable as we face challenges together during this time of uneasiness and unpredictability. We must demonstrate our commitment to uplift all those in our community to be true reflections of the light of UC Berkeley.

Established in 2019, The Achievement Award Program – Diversity Scholarship supports high-achieving, low-income students from underrepresented backgrounds throughout their undergraduate years at Cal. Through scholarships, CAA’s donors make a significant positive impact on the undergraduate experience of underrepresented Berkeley students.

2020 marks 150 years since the UC Regents’ decision to admit women to UC Berkeley. As I reflect on how far women have progressed in the Cal community, I am prompted to consider the diversity initiatives that CAA continues to champion.

Serving more than 500,000 living alumni, CAA offers the Cal community endless opportunities to stay engaged with their alma mater. Last month, CAA’s Alumni Scholars Program honored recipients of The Leadership Award for their wholehearted involvement in academic, work, and community environments at the 35th Leadership Award Recognition Luncheon. This spring, our scholars also attended brown bag lunches and workshops organized by the Alumni Scholars Program to discuss topics from graduate school and interview preparation to imposter syndrome and financial planning.

Your generosity as CAA donors allows leaders in the next generation to make wonderful contributions on campus and alumni to thrive in their professional and social lives.

Fiat Lux, and Go Bears!
