Evaluate Scholarship Applications

Make a tangible impact for future Cal leaders by reading and scoring undergraduate scholarship applications. Our scholarship readings are completely virtual — contribute from the comfort of your own home using our online portal.

Virtual application readings are an opportunity that allows you to engage with the Cal community regardless of your proximity to campus. Virtual application readers will receive all training materials and scholarship applications electronically. A step-by-step tutorial will explain the evaluation process. Each virtual reader will be assigned approximately 10 – 15 applications to review (exact number varies depending on the volume of volunteers for each event). While the completion time for these reviews varies from reader to reader, most volunteers find that completing an online reading takes 2–3 hours total. Please note that virtual readers can work on their evaluations in as many sittings as they wish.

Virtual reading events begin annually in May. Additional virtual reading events may be added depending on volume of applications received.
